Frock On!

I know, I know, it's a bit...overdue. But, I can finally sit down and write up just a small review of Frock On!

Despite my two hours of sleep in about 48 hours, I managed to wake up early and get myself ready for the Saturday event, held at 1 Whitehall Place; which I genuinely wished I'd taken a photo of - that building was incredible and beautiful, a real lifestyle Lolita's dream! I'd been good and responsible (for once) to find the hotel the evening before, so getting to the venue was no problem.

As I said, the venue was gorgeous - the interior absolutely plush and decadent, and, even though the hotel was pretty big, easy to to navigate through (lots of stairs, however! I took the lifts more than once just to avoid that staircase.). Seriously, the hotel was so well thought out as a location.

Four rooms were hired for Frock On! - two for the shopping, one for the stage/catwalk, and another for photography. Yup, that's right! Two rooms purely for shopping! They really delivered when they said they'd make it a Lolita's shopping dream. One room was for bring-and-buy items, while the other (photographed above) was stocked full of...I don't know...brand new stuff? From Japanese brands like Atelier Pierrot and Juliette et Justine, to well-known names as Haenuli and Cherie Cherise, and handmade makers of accessories like Roxie Sweetheart and Now, Voyager. It was amazing to see so many familiar names in one room. Luckily, I managed to restrain myself and not buy a loooooot of accessories! Just about...there was one thing in particular from Wise Wolf that I had to get...more about that later.

The day's events planned out were super fun too. I managed to sit through all of the planned classes and shows, which were so entertaining! You had two fashion shows, a "fashion fix" section, where you voted for either the brand or non-brand co-ords (put together by Kyra and Michaela, the organisers), as well as master-classes on how to properly tie a bow and how to pose. It was absolutely great and the personalities of all involved really shine through, making everything so laid-back and friendly - even just sitting there, with a room full of lolis I'd never met before, felt so comfortable and as if you were amongst friends. The whole atmosphere was lovely.

Oh, and there was a special guest too! Hitomi, from the Dolly Kei brand Grimoire, was there for a Q&A - she was so cute and friendly!

I really had a fantastic day, and I'm so glad I went. Everyone was lovely (and so amazingly well-dressed!), I had fun and I came out of there with a few goodies - didn't win anything in the raffle though... *sob*

Preparing for Frock On!

This weekend, I'll be attending the UK's first Lolita convention, Frock On! I can't even begin to tell you how many months it's taken me to fully prepare my co-ord. I wanted to try something a little different, something soft and summery, and not the usual black and white traditional kodona that I like to wear - wow, is it harder to make a light-coloured co-ord or what?! Getting the right shades of blue...what a nightmare...

This, however, is the end result! Sort of. I mean, when I took this photo, my shirt and jabot were at the cleaners, and I couldn't find the white stockings that go with this whole ensemble. But, you get the general idea of what I'm going for, right? And, I must say, I'm pretty happy with it.

The wig is something I'm still unsure of. So, I'll take another wig with me just in case. Can't be too prepared! Hopefully, I'll get plenty of pictures while I'm at Frock On! and write about it in my next post - I'm so looking forward to this, all the shopping, the fashion shows and, of course, seeing all the beautiful Lolitas, Oujis and aristocrats there!

Infanta and their Precious Coats

So, in my last OotD post I had my Infanta coat on! I must say, Infanta make some wonderful winter coats - not only are they beautiful, they're practical too for those colder months. Seeing as I live all the way in North Wales, it can get pretty damn cold and a lot rainy; a good winter coat is really needed around these parts! In case you didn't see my last post (or just plain can't be bothered clicking the link!), here's what I'm talking about:

Cute, aristocratic, and keeps out the chill - perfect! It's pretty heavy, seeing as it's woolen, but not so much that it feels uncomfortable or smothering. It's super warm and I honestly can't wait for the weather to turn cold, so that I can have the perfect excuse to prance around in it again!

Unfortunately, owning this has only made me want to buy more of Infanta's dapper outerwear. Seriously, look at these beautiful items...

You can never have too many winter coats, right?

OotD - A Hint of Blue

I wanted something nice and casual to go to the cinema with my friends and this is the co-ord I ended up putting together. Royal blue is such a fun colour to add to an outfit - makes for a more interesting look than the usual black-and-white "traditional" ouji I have a habit of wearing too often!

In other news, summer needs to end soon and make room for colder weather. I miss wearing my wonderful Infanta coat...and I need an excuse to buy more of Infanta's glorious winter-wear. <3

OotD - traditional black and white

Thought I ought to get started with posting some co-ords! Most of these that I'll be posting are outfits from a few weeks ago that I put up on Instagram, but I still love them enough to include them in my blog. VwV

The tradition black-and-white is what I usually go for! I don't know why - maybe because that colour scheme tends to have that nice balance of being simple and elegant at the same time? Who knows? Not me...

All I know is that I miss having black and white hair.

Shirt - Random eBay find
Waistcoat - Bodyline
Jabot and tights - Refuse To Be Usual
Breeches - Custom-made item

Oh, R-Series!

I'll be honest, when R-Series brought out "Odette Mansion", I wasn't all that bothered about the kodona set they released. I'm not sure why - it grabbed my attention, but it was never something that I thought I'd ever flail over and yell, "YES, I NEED THIS IN MY WARDROBE!"

So, I left it alone. I forgot about it.

Until tonight, when I randomly decided to glance through Qutieland (because, when you don't have the money to buy clothes, looking at shopping sites is obviously how you spend your time!). Maybe it's because I am in short supply of pretty, dapper jackets...maybe it's because I'm still trying to introduce more colour into my co-ords...maybe it's because I don't have money allocated for pretty things...probably a combination of all three reasons, but I suddenly find myself wanting this dress suit jacket! Even that waist tie, which initially made me frown and shake my head, appeals to me now! The hell is going on?!

Oh, but those colours are so lovely...

Once I'm allocated spending money - real spending money, not "safe" foods and drinks money - I definitely know what my first purchase will be.

Gosh, here goes...

Sooo...my first post.

Well, I suppose I should use this as some sort of brief introduction to myself? I am the Little Marquis, who spent far too long a time in debating whether to put together a fashion blog or not. With very little to do, given that it's summer holidays for me, I finally decided to give it a try! Unlike other places where I occassionally post my daily co-ords, such as on Tumblr and Instagram, I want to use this blog solely for my passion for Japanese and Gothic fashion, and not let it get bogged down by whatever fandom I'm currently way too emotionally invested in or the bits of art I make. Fingers crossed, I won't get distracted and veer off course...

I've been wearing kodona fashion "full-time" for the last three years, and before then, I swayed between the dandy look and the very gothy neo-Victorian. Dressing in kodona (or Ouji) gives me so much confidence in myself and my appearance, and it also makes me incredibly happy, so I hope to share that passion with everyone out there who's also interested! On top of that, I'm also going to share images and themes that currently inspire me, as well as the latest lines/prints that lolita brands (and non-brands) bring out that really catch my attention. If there's any exciting news about the J-fashion scene in the UK, I'm sure I'll be putting up posts about that too!

Hmmm...what else? Oh! I'm going to make an official apology RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, about the quality of my OOTD pictures. I don't have a camera - well, I do, but my parents tend to take it with them whenever they swan off on some adventure or other - and so I'm resigned to use my camera phone, so the quality isn't exactly amazing. Hopefully, come next term, I can buy a shiny, cute new camera with my student grant.

I'd go on some more, but I'm no good at these introductions...and I sound so stuffy. (>.<;)

I'll get to posting my outfits soon, lovelies. Until then, cheerio~
